Advanced Plant & Soil Sensing Laboratory

The Advanced Plant and Soil Sensing (APSS) Lab conducts fundamental research on applying advanced sensing technologies for plant and soil sensing with the intention of developing novel sensors for field applications in agriculture and natural resources. One major focus technology is the ‘spectroscopy’ where the interaction of light and matter is being used to estimate different properties. The lab is comprised of graduate and undergraduate research students who are trained in machine learning, spectroscopic sensing, and plant and soil sciences to develop the foundational knowledge needed for their research.

Our Vision

Effectively contribute to precision agricultural developments to ensure economic and eco-friendly agriculture

Our Mission

Conduct research on the enhancement of agricultural systems productivity through the application of novel techniques in sensing, data analysis and control of crop, soil, and animals
