Overview

Sachin Cooray is a graduate student originally from Sri Lanka. His academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Moratuwa, which laid a solid foundation in engineering principles and innovative problem-solving. Driven by a keen interest in advancing automation technologies, he pursued an MSc in Industrial Automation, deepening his expertise in this dynamic field.

With over five years of professional experience, Sachin has honed his skills in industrial automation, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and machine development. This experience has allowed him to work on cutting-edge technologies and solutions, addressing real-world challenges in the industry.

Sachin joined the Advanced Soil and Plant Sensing (APSS) Laboratory at Mississippi State University to pursue his Ph.D. studies under the guidance of Drs. Nuwan Wijewardane and Xin Zhang. His research focuses on soybean phenotyping, aligning with his long-term vision to contribute to advancements in biosystems engineering.
