Overview
Asifur Rahman is a graduate student from Bangladesh. He earned his B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from BRAC University. During his studies, he completed coursework in statistical computations, engineering statistics, machine learning and modeling for data science, and Introduction to Robotics at the graduate level, along with programming languages, algorithms, and data structures at the undergraduate level. He is proficient in Java, Python, R, JavaScript, Arduino, web development, and machine learning.
At Mississippi State, Asifur has focused on agricultural robotics, RTK GNSS based navigation, and autonomous ground vehicles. His M.S. research centers on developing and evaluating an RTK GNSS guided Amiga unmanned ground vehicle that autonomously navigates along cotton rows to reach plastic contaminated locations identified. He designed the navigation pipeline, integrated GNSS, onboard computing, and motor control, and carried out structured field trials to measure path tracking accuracy, repeatability, and system reliability under real operating conditions.
He is continuing into Ph.D. studies in the Advanced Soil and Plant Sensing Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Nuwan Wijewardane and Dr. Xin Zhang. His current work will expand to navigation and sensing on a Husky A300 platform for soil health mapping and decision support in row crops.
