Overview

Chamika Silva is a graduate student originally from Sri Lanka. The fact that agriculture technology and management are devoted to practically seeking solutions to the dilemma of resources sacristy through applying theory and research in which it resonates him to draw to the discipline of Agriculture. With this motivation, he completed his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Technology and management with a major in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Peradeniya. Soon after, he pursued his master’s degree in Agricultural and Bio-Systems Engineering from the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture. Both of these degrees carved his inner motivation to become a professional agricultural engineer in his future career.

As a young researcher his desire to engage more in research in depth he had the opportunity to join a dynamic research group at the Advanced Soil and Plant Sensing Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Nuwan Wijewardane. Chamika completed his master of science degree with a concentration in engineering technology attached to the Agricultural and Biological Engineering department in 2023.

During his undergraduate, and graduate studies in Sri Lanka, he had many opportunities to be involved in collaborative research that focused on mechanical engineering and farm mechanization. For his M.Sc. program, he has researched a novel air pycnometer that can be used to measure the true particle density at the laboratory level.
